SPC Joshua Boone—Hero On Call
I enlisted in the Army National Guard when I was 17. I wanted to do my part in serving my country and I wanted to get into it as soon as I could.
A few months after completing my basic and AIT training, my unit was called to go to Iraq. I had just turned 18 and decided to volunteer to go with them.
I spent 12 months in Ramadi, Iraq, training the Iraqi Police and learning a lot of things about life. It was a long tour but I enjoyed the job I did there and am very proud of what we accomplished there. Now that I am back home, I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to help get people interested in joining the National Guard and telling them all that the Guard has to offer.
Soon I plan to start college and it is nice that my tuition is paid for through the Guard.
