CPL Scott Schuman - Hero On Call: Currently Deployed

I joined the Army National Guard right after high school. I wanted to serve my country, but at the same time stay in my hometown. I also wanted to make some extra money.

Shortly after returning home from Advanced Individual Training, I was called to duty as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. I was deployed for a little over a year. I learned many life lessons being deployed and serving my country, and if I had never joined, I would have missed all of this.

I've recently been promoted to Corporal. I'm a team leader for an Infantry team. The guard has given me leadership skills that will help me pursue my law enforcement career.
